[So Logan has been planning this for awhile. But he doesn't like announcing things on the journal. Because then people will want to talk to him. And he doesn't like talking to people on the journals. It's bad enough that his journal shows up even after he purposely loses it. And now elves. Damn elves. It's thanks to their pestering that he makes his move. That is, actually offering to 'give' something to the community.

Probably not what the elf had in mind. But then, he impaled it on his claws. So what the hell does he care what it thinks?]

Now I know I ain't exactly the first to offer any kind of combat instructing. So I ain't going to bother looking for civvies. If you don't know how to fight, there's plenty of other people eager to show you the ropes. Not that I ain't willing to consider ya, but you aren't the only people I'm concerned with.

What I do is train mutants. People with powers. So it doesn't matter what you can do. If you're looking to refine your powers, get stronger, and increase your chances of not dying - then I'm your man. I'm known as Wolverine. Or you can call me Logan. If you're interested, see me at the Dome. You'll be getting your introductory lesson there.

[Logan can be found at the Dome, waiting by the console. He's in his X-Men uniform. Anyone who frequents the dome won't find this look too unusual for him. There's also his latest elf. It looks fairly traumatized, worried, and paranoid. Which is why it's hiding behind one of the pillars holding up the second floor, rather than anywhere near Wolverine.

He's so very, very much on the naughty list.]

Ororo had followed Logan to the Battle Dome after his announcement over the journals, wondering what sort of turn-out he might get for his offer. She has an elf of her own hiding behind her legs - this one fairly scared of the Wolverine, but apparently her duty to make sure Ororo does what she asks of her overrides her sense of self-preservation, so. Hiding behind Ororo it is.

Meanwhile, Ororo alternated between absentmindedly patting her elf on the head and glancing up at Logan's terrified one while she walked over to join him at the console.

"... This was not your elf when you left the house earlier, was it?" She frowned.

[snikting]

Logan glanced at his own elf. Immediately it gasped and hid.

"The last one suggested I should do some caroling. I didn't agree."

[calmbeforethe]

"Now you've got me curious; is the Wolverine tone deaf?" Her question was less teasing and more one of curiosity. But she does grin a little.

[snikting]

"I don't sing. Ever." On that he felt he could not be clearer.

[calmbeforethe]

"Apparently not even when sweet little elves ask you to," She glanced up at his elf again, still hiding behind his pillar. "What did you do to it? It's terrified of you."

[snikting]

"To that one? Nothing." Yet.

[calmbeforethe]

"And yet it can barely stand to be within ten feet of you." She frowns. "You know they really aren't that bad."

[snikting]

"They're bad enough, darling. Besides. They ain't even real."

[calmbeforethe]

"But they're certainly realistic." And that makes all difference to Ororo. She pats her own elf gently on the head.

"In any case, I wanted to see how you were doing with your little offer of free Danger Room sessions. How was the turn-out?"

[snikting]

"There wasn't one."

Not yet, anyway. But he figured it had been long enough. "An' I ain't expecting one. Mia's the only one who showed up."

[calmbeforethe]

Ororo frowned. "Is that right? I was hoping you would find more interested parties. There's certainly no shortage of fighters here, and I'm sure they would benefit from it."

[snikting]

"Like the octopus?" That was a thing that happened.

[calmbeforethe]

"Pardon, but could you repeat that?" She gave him a dubious look. Logan wasn't one to joke around often, but she wasn't sure she heard that right.

[snikting]

"An octopus. Like the kind you normally eat. His mutant power is talking."

[calmbeforethe]

"I... see." She was struggling for an appropriate reaction, beyond 'are you absolutely sure it was a talking octopus?'

"Well... what did it say? And for that matter, what did you tell him?"

[snikting]

"That it can use the internet." He grunted. "We'll see if it shows up."

[calmbeforethe]

"Indeed. And I will have to see what you will have it do." She raised both eyebrows at him, unable to keep from giving him a slight, teasing grin.

"Or Mia, or any other potential student you might attract, Logan. I'm sure you will have others curious about your offer before the day ends." At least one of them was optimistic?

[snikting]

"Yeah. We'll see." He was in his typical unhappy mood with a pout hidden behind a scowl. Not that anyone ought to be as reckless as to point that out.

"So... Mia. You think she got what it takes?"

[calmbeforethe]

Ororo looked thoughtful for a moment. "I've fought with her, before. She's dependable, earnest and skilled, certainly."

"Of course, I've yet to see her hold her own in a hand to hand fight. But I suppose that's where we can come in?"

[snikting]

"That's the plan." He'd run her through the same routine every recruit went through. It was a science by now.

"She ain't a mutant, though."

[calmbeforethe]

"Few in Luceti are, and yet you offered your help to anyone who might want it, anyway." She looked at him curiously.

"Are you having second thoughts?"

[snikting]

"Nah. That I'm not worried about." In the end, Logan could train whoever the hell he wanted. "It's the team I'm thinkin' about. Chuck was pretty specific in who he went recruiting."

[calmbeforethe]

"He was that, yes." The Professor seemed to be looking for more than just mutants, after all.

"We may not be telepaths, but I think we can trust our own judgment of character well enough." And anyway, an offer to train people was not the same as an offer to be part of the X-Men.

"Regardless, somehow I do not think Charles would object to Mia." Ororo made no effort to hide her affection for the younger girl. After all, she'd proven herself to them time and again.

[snikting]

The people he offered to train were not X-Men potentials. Not yet, anyway. Mia was different. She lived with them, was privvy to their discussions, and was all but a member of their 'team'. It was hard to justify leaving her out forever. All in all, it made her more of a subject of consideration than anyone else he talked to.

"So you're sayin' he'd offer to make her one of us. An X-Man."

[calmbeforethe]

"I am saying we should offer her the choice of joining the team," She paused, considering. "And that if Charles were to arrive, I do not think he would have anything against our making that decision."

The fact of the matter was that the Professor wasn't here. For all intents and purposes, she and Logan stood in his place for now. It was a position that was in concept hard to fill, and certainly they would have to think twice about making decisions like this. But this choice in particular, she was confident that Charles would approve.
