5 - [Action/Voice]

[So Logan has been planning this for awhile. But he doesn't like announcing things on the journal. Because then people will want to talk to him. And he doesn't like talking to people on the journals. It's bad enough that his journal shows up even after he purposely loses it. And now elves. Damn elves. It's thanks to their pestering that he makes his move. That is, actually offering to 'give' something to the community.

Probably not what the elf had in mind. But then, he impaled it on his claws. So what the hell does he care what it thinks?]

Now I know I ain't exactly the first to offer any kind of combat instructing. So I ain't going to bother looking for civvies. If you don't know how to fight, there's plenty of other people eager to show you the ropes. Not that I ain't willing to consider ya, but you aren't the only people I'm concerned with.

What I do is train mutants. People with powers. So it doesn't matter what you can do. If you're looking to refine your powers, get stronger, and increase your chances of not dying - then I'm your man. I'm known as Wolverine. Or you can call me Logan. If you're interested, see me at the Dome. You'll be getting your introductory lesson there.

[Logan can be found at the Dome, waiting by the console. He's in his X-Men uniform. Anyone who frequents the dome won't find this look too unusual for him. There's also his latest elf. It looks fairly traumatized, worried, and paranoid. Which is why it's hiding behind one of the pillars holding up the second floor, rather than anywhere near Wolverine.

He's so very, very much on the naughty list.]

[So he does stick to walls. Mia takes several quick steps backward, out of range of his leap for the time being. With no staff to swing and not wanting to touch Psynergy yet, she first thinks to avoid him until he grows tired of jumping around.

But he's a simulation - is that going to happen? In the second it takes her to think of that she finds herself in reach of him again, dodging to the side this time.]

[Dodging is good and all, but Toad is quick and nimble. Immediately he whips out his tongue, aiming to grab her by the arm and pull her towards him.]

[That sticky tongue wraps right around her left arm, drawing her closer to Toad at a faster rate than she expected. Once she is that close, though, she won't hesitate to try to trip him with a foot and elbow him in the face with her free arm.]

[Toad takes the elbow to the face and lands on his back, muttering and complaining. But he's hardly down for the count. He nimbly flips over onto his feet again. His next move will be a flying kick towards her torso. If he succeeds, he'll bounce off her to land on the wall. If he misses, he'll quickly recover and land on the adjacent wall instead.]

[She's watching him. That's how she would describe any of this, if asked - watching and thinking about when the boys were trying to teach her to fight. Some of the time, it worked.

This time she barely sidesteps the kick, reaching out with both hands to try to grab Toad's leg and turn with his momentum. To give him a boost, so to speak. A little extra...air.]

[This goes on for a bit before she finally finishes Toad off.]

Not bad. 'course, Toad's a pushover. Let's see how you do against Avalanche. You ready?

[Avalanche? Mia’s expression changes. The implication of snow – something she's familiar with – is about to leave her seriously unprepared.]

I’m trying to be. Are the rules the same?

If you can manage it. If you can't, then use your powers. But once you get good enough, you won't have to.

[Out comes Lance, the good looking one. He gives a smirk as he steps forward, before going into migraine mode and causing things to shake.]

[Given that this is a simulation and also serious, Mia is not swayed by his charm or his grin.

The shaking was unexpected. The very first thing she does is find one leg twisted under her and fall over. It's hard to get to her feet when he presses the attack; trying to dodge probably isn't going to work with this one.]

[Lance's powers were far less athletic than Toad's, but the kid knew how to handle himself in a fight, having grown up as a thug even before he gained his powers. But he's more willing to rely on his powers here, to prevent her from being able to do much of anything as the ground vibrates and the structure begins to fall apart around and on top of them.]

[Whoa. Bits of building are coming down, and Mia has a heck of a time dodging that while trying to get at him. Several pieces bounce off of her with only the flash of impact-pain that comes with the simulation - no lasting damage, but the point is made - and she still can't get stable footing in order to attempt anything.

He's gonna bring it down on you, Mia. Before long, other innocents will start getting crushed. You plannin' on doing nothing about it?

[No. She couldn't do nothing, not even with fake other people at stake in this.

First, she tries using Frost to make enough of an ice pillar around him to encase him and stop the shaking. It's against the 'rules' but what Logan said makes the rules moot to her for now.]

[Logan doesn't comment on what is and isn't allowed. Not right now.

In any case, it has the desired effect. Lance is in there, trying to vibrate his way free. But the ground isn't moving now.]

[For just a moment, Mia stops. Isn't it over? She glances at Logan, then, and thinks that...that he probably wants her to take it further than this. Not to kill "Avalanche", certainly, but to do something so that he couldn't break free and attack again.]

Is...that all? [She's still out of breath.]

You've got five seconds before he bursts out of that thing.

[Maybe less. Which means the scenario's not over. Where Mia is supposed to take it? Well that's part of the test.]

[Okay. Five seconds is long enough - to build up a larger wall, one she can circle around just the two of them, and Logan. Maybe if her opponent can't see what he's shaking, then he won't be able to get at anything outside that area. It already looks like he can't quite do it without his hands.]

This ain't the Juggernaut, kid. That's overkill. Besides, you plannin' on suffocating him?

[All that ice will probably work, sure. But it's overkill when all she needs to do is knock him out.]

[There's a hole at the top - she can't make a solid dome of that size.]

No. ...I don't know of a safe way to stop him. [Because if she hits him hard enough to knock him out (by some lucky chance), or does what she had to do to Caius and cools him down until he passes out...those aren't safe. Not for a real person.]

Then you've got something to learn.

[Logan pops out the claws and walks past her. He slashes through the ice. Once Lance is in front of him and about to react, Logan retracts the claw on his right hand and delivers a powerful punch to the kid's face. Enough to cause him to black out.

Logan turns around.]

Sometimes freezing them ain't gonna be enough. It'd work on Toad, but not the other three.

Freezing people is just as dangerous for them as punching them so hard they're unconscious.

[Logan glances down at the unconscious Lance Alvers.]

Unless you planned on suffocating him, he'd have either vibrated his way out or froze to death.

[He is right, of course. The fact remains that Mia doesn't like to hurt anyone...but that she has had to before, and she would again.]

He has earth powers?

Earth powers you could deal with. The kid creates seismic waves from his hands. Doesn't matter what you encase him in. Ice, wood, stone, or steel. He can collapse 'em with enough effort. Even subdued.

[And therein lied half the challenge.]

[The best she can do is nod. And remember, for the next time, if there is going to be one. She's tired already, or still, from fighting a slimy Toad-person and then having the stuffing shaken out of her head.]
