Appointments Post

This post is for threading with Wolverine anytime and anywhere. It can be used for Action or the Ring feature on journals to get in contact with him for personal conversations.

The only warning she'd given him was an audio message over the journals, the night before. She'd told him that she'd be showing up to his new apartment with some appropriate clothes for Tony and Pepper's big day, and that he better be ready.

But when she shows up at his door, bright and early on the morning of the 14th, she has a few bars of soap on hand anyway. Doesn't hurt to have insurance, after all.

Naturally, he had been paying no attention to the journal. So he was entirely surprised to find her at the door. Especially since he was only in a pair of boxer shorts, his hair was a wild mess, and he had a bottle of beer in hand.

"Ro?"

She gave him a critical once-over, frowning.

"Did you forget what day it is, today?"

A rhetorical question. She's stepping inside before he can close the door on her.

"Friday?" It wasn't Friday. And he clearly had forgotten. But he made no move to stop her.

"Saturday." She raised an eyebrow at him, and his boxers. "It is also the 14th." She paused, and when it seemed like he still didn't remember - "Tony and Pepper's wedding?"

He squinted at her. "You sure? I thought that was tomorrow."

"It is today. I thought Pepper had given you an invitation?" She looked around for a place to hang the dress shirt, slacks and tie she'd brought for him, and settled for laying it over the back of a chair. "And I sent you a message, over the journal..."

"I never saw the invitation." He never went home to get it. "An' I lost my journal again." But more importantly, he was looking at the clothes. "What's that for?"

"You need to stop misplacing your journal," she sighed. The bars of soap - because she foresaw needing more than one, of course - went in a pile on the nearest table. But she noticed him looking at the clothes. "... And these are for you to wear. There is a dress code, of course."

"I had stuff to wear." Black jeans. A clean white shirt. His Sunday's best, really. "An' I don't need no soap. I'm clean enough."

"I know you have things to wear, but not for a wedding." Knowing him, he'd show up in flannel. "You don't even have to keep the tie on for the reception."

"And as for the soap..." She frowned, raising an eyebrow. "Not hardly clean enough. You can't show up smelling like a bar, Logan." Not til after drinks were served at the reception, anyway.

"It's a manly musk," he protested. But he picked up the clothes anyway, looking from his bottle to the clothes again. Defeated, he set the bottle aside. "I did tell Potts I'd find a clip on."

"Did you find a clip on?" She teased, looking at him pointedly. What was it with men and neckties, really...

He shook his head. "Nah. Forgot to look."

"Then you'll have to settle for a real one. I'm sure Pepper would be impressed."

"Don't expect me to tie the damn thing myself."

"I think I can manage at least that." A pause. "But do not expect me to give you that bath myself, Logan." She had to draw a line somewhere.

Under other circumstances, he might make a lewd comment suggesting he'd love to have her try. But as it was... he waved it off.

"I don't need yer help for that. I know how ta use a bar of soap."

"Sometimes I wonder if you truly do." She picked up a bar and passed it to him. It's a bonfire-scented one. "Would you take more regular baths if we had a stock of these around?"

He raised the bar to his nose to smell it and then frowned.

"Maybe if it was beer scented."

But he accepted it, the clothes, and headed to the bathroom.

And while he was in there, Ororo made herself comfortable waiting in his kitchen. She was tempted to clean up after him, but managed to rein that impulse in at least. She didn't need to act any more housewifelike than she was at the moment. Coming in to make sure he was dressed was already a bit of a risk as it was, given how their last talk went.

Some people could shower in five minutes. Some in ten. Teenagers often showered in twenty and little children in thirty.

Logan was truly taking his time and would go on to forty-five minutes or an hour, should she not interrupt.

Luckily, Ororo was a patient woman. She'd also brought her journal, so she had something to occupy her time with while she waited.

She did interrupt once, though, to ask if he needed a second bar of soap in there. But she waited without complaint; getting Logan to actually shower was a victory in itself already. She figured that, as rare as an occurrence as it was, he had a lot to scrub off.

Her patience would be put to the test. In roughly one hour and fifteen minutes, Logan at last emerged. Both bars of soap had been obliterated, the bottom of the tub looked like it could be a throw rug, and he'd even bothered to shave his chin and neck. He smelled clean. And he'd even pulled on the dress pants and was in the middle of buttoning up the shirt.

Logan was unhappy about all of this.

"Damn soap. I can still smell it on me."

Tested patience or not, it's definitely worth the wait in her opinion. Ororo got up from where she'd seated herself on his couch, smiling.

"Oh, hush. I'm sure you won't have any trouble wearing it off later. I've heard people talking about there being an open bar at the reception." She walked over to him, tie in hand.
