7 - [Action/Voice]

Lately Logan has been a rare face around Luceti and an unreliable teacher at best. Fortunately he had Ororo and Natasha to cover when he wasn't around, lest his students get the funny idea they were getting off time. That was the result of the man taking any mission the Malnosso offered him. Anything to get out of the cage. But the last one was from one cage to another. While they certainly gave him more challenge than he got in the dome, their combat testing didn't sit well with him. Especially because he forced himself to hold back. He wasn't fond of the Mallies knowing just what he was really capable of. he didn't care for the keen interest in his claws. He'd known too many scientists like that.

So when he got back to Luceti on the evening of the fourth, he was still on edge. He sated himself by picking up a some booze at the bar- to go, before heading back to the house. Tonight his idea of relaxation was putting his feet up to watch an action flick, smoke a cigar, and ignore any requests that he wash himself clean of the last ten days of heavy combat.

The next day, he'll resume his training sessions and otherwise be found at the Dome all day, until the evening where he'll retreat to the bar.

Back in Luceti. If yer here an' ain't dead, show up for training. You know when to be here.

If anyone else is looking fer some trainin', we can talk. I specialize in people with special powers. I usually work with mutants, but there ain't a whole lot of us here. So talk to me if you're interested. Just don't expect nothing easy.

I'll make sure she knows that. [Zatanna can already imagine how Artemis will react to that comment.]

But the one actually needing to learn how to fight is me. I'm really not that good with physical combat.

Kid, you need to work on your first impressions. [All that sassing is going to come back on her.] But alright. I'll give you a shot. What kind of experience you got?

Zatanna. And I'm pretty sure I've given you an accurate representation of myself. [Because Logan doesn't really expect her to be overly polite and respectful, now does he?]

I've been using magic pretty much since I was born. As for actually fighting, I've had some lessons. Pretty steady ones for the past couple of months, plus experience fighting supervillains as part of a team of heroes. The same team my friend is on, by the way; her name is Artemis.

Don't know her. [So that's not really going to get her anywhere. He's been working with Billy, though, so at least he's not new to this magic thing. But the mention of heroes does make him curious.] You on Billy's team? The Junior Avengers?

I don't think that's what they're called. [Although the name does make her grin.] Our team doesn't really have a name; we're just "the team." And from a completely different universe than Billy.

How original. [A pause.] My team's the X-Men. The name's Logan. Wolverine on the field.

Hey, don't blame me. I didn't come up with the lack-of-a-name. [Although speaking of...]

Wolverine? Isn't that supposed to be a really grumpy weasel or something?

Kid, you ain't gonna last very long if all you can do is think up things I've already heard a thousand times already.

Good thing there's more to me than my mouth. So when should I show up for try-outs?

Be here in an hour. Don't be late.

It is. [Since Zatanna's seen all of one dome shaped buildings in Luceti.] Be there in an hour.

[And Zatanna even does show up on time. Dressed in her battle uniform! Which, granted looks a lot like a stage magician's outfit, but hey. She's not going to abandon her roots completely.

Now to find someone who looks snarly and generally unhappy with life...]

[Said unhappy man is at the main console, setting up a new scenario. Some of which can be seen on the 3D model being constructed in front of him. That sure is a lot of spikes. He notices her enter, takes one look at her, and decides that she's not anyone that he's got to be concerned with.]

[She can feel the appreciation from here. But since this guy looks pretty dour and focused, Zatanna figures she might as well ask.]

Hey there. Are you Logan?

[... well then. He turned around and looked her over. He recognized the voice, but this was far from what he expected.]

You here for the catering?

Now who thinks he's the funny guy?

[Although hey! Turns out the grumpy weasel can dish it too. Zatanna grins, a hand resting on her hip.]

I did mention the whole "doing magic since I was born" thing.

I was expecting more flames and lightning, less card tricks and requestin' volunteers.

[This has to be some kind of joke on her part.]

What, you don't think pulling a rabbit from my hat would be enough to scare away bad guys? But it's always worked so well before.

[He fixed her with a look that suggested he was tired of having his time wasted.]

[She's shaking in her boots.]

No? Well, there is this other trick I know...Etativel mih!

[Extending her arm towards Logan as she speaks the words focuses the spell, and sends the man floating upwards. She makes sure he's a good distance up--it wouldn't work if there were any solid surfaces in easy reach--then looks up at him expectantly.]

[He was rolling his eyes and about to turn when suddenly he lost contact with the ground. His eyes widened in shock, before narrowing in annoyance. This wasn't his first time being levitated. He didn't care for it any more than when Jean did it.]

... alright, ya convinced me. Now put me down.

Are you sure? Because I could demonstrate a few other spells if you really need me to.

[Yes, that is Zatanna looking smug down there. But she lowers her arm again, and Logan with it, freeing him from the spell so he lands back on the ground.]

[He crosses his arms as his feet touch the ground again.]

You'll get yer chance to do plenty of demonstrating. But magic ain't the only thing I'm interested in.

Right. The fighting portion of the learning to fight. Like I said, that isn't exactly my strong suit.

[Though she's gotten better, Zatanna's definitely the weakest on the team when it comes to actual hand to hand.]
