[Logan makes it home from his mission and you know what? He's dead all over. Exhausted and worn out. He threw himself into the jungle, fought alone, and by all rights should be dead. He may have died more than once, when a Shifter removed his powers and he took some deadly wounds. But then backup would show up, kill the Shifter, and Logan came back to life. Rinse and repeat.

Other people died. He tried to save them, but he was just one man and there was too many of them. So they had to withdraw. And when it was time to go home, he signed up for 'just a few more days'. Even when they told him he had maxed out the points he could earn for the month, he still stayed in there.

Up until today, when the squad packed it all up and he was told he had to go back. As much as Logan would have liked to stay out there indefinitely, he was still a test subject first. Guinea pigs had to go back into their cage eventually.

So now he was back. Where his fake family was. With his fake life. Oh, sure, those memories had become less and less clear. But they were still there and he did not relish seeing any of his 'family'. Which is why he didn't go home. He went to the bar for drinks, sure. He visited the Item Shop to drop in on Rogue on the pretense of looking for his old junk. He played some pool by himself, but he only made it halfway through a game before the kid playing video games annoyed him to the point of leaving.

And then he went back to the bar again. To drink and drink and drink and drink. Chances are, he was going to wake up behind the bar after passing out there. But he certainly wasn't going home to his loving wife. Because that wasn't real and he wouldn't be able to stop himself from acting like it was.]

I guess that... we should all stick together? [He presses one finger from each hand to his forehead while using two others to push his hair back and give a slight illusion of baldness.] 'Now more than ever'. Yeah, that sounds like him alright.

[Logan snickers a bit. Not often he finds Kurt genuinely amusing.]

Hm, it does. Maybe we oughtta be puttin' you in charge of the team.

[Kurt softly chuckles - he will never underestimate the achievement of getting even that much of a response from Logan.]

Would that mean I get to set the training schedule?

[Have a 'small' punch in the shoulder, elf.]

Not a chance, kid.

[He winces mouths an "ow!" with the punch, but then goes into a nervous chuckle, as he rubs at his shoulder.]

On second thought, maybe I'll stick with where I'm at...

How 'bout Mia? She make her way back to our place fine? I don't recall seein' her during that whole mess.

I did. We got into a sticky situation, but it turned out okay. And... yeah, she made it back alright. Of course, since it was Mia, she went around treating half the village first.

Wouldn't be her if she didn't. [Still. He nods. It's good to hear.] And you?

Me? I... I had some trouble with the police. [He got a bloody nose from it.] But nothing serious happened. I made it back in one piece.

Damn sparties. [Posing as police and... well, all of it. He's still mad.] Seems ya got the better end of that mess, then.

It wasn't something I want to repeat, I know that much. But... it's all over now.

[A low growl signals his agreement.]

I don't think anybody's gonna wanna go through that again.

Right. I guess the main thing is... it's over. And we're all still here. [Ororo's still here, waiting for you, Logan.]

I'm not so sure that last part's a good thing.

Right! It's - it's not. It just... seems like a good thing, sometimes.

Compared to some things, maybe. But don't forget we got our own world an' battles to get back to

Right. [He bows his head.] To be honest... A lot of the time, I'm afraid to go back there. And to... to face him. But at the same time... Billy told me, that the other us beat the other him. So... I think I'm starting to believe that we maybe we really do have a chance.

... Wanda says we beat him.

[Something he hasn't shared a whole lot, mostly because that's putting too much faith in somebody else's story. The story of someone who has already been brainwashed.

But it sounds like the kid needs some hope.]

[He looks over attentively.]

What? She - she did?!

[He'd never thought to ask Wanda what time she was from. And he never imagined that she could be from... after all of that.]

Kicked his ass. Got the happy ending.

[Xavier and Ororo were alive. But then, none of them knew they ever 'died'.

And Magneto and Mystique...

Well. Some things are best not told.]

I can't believe it... [He looks down at his hands for a moment and then back up at Logan with a smile.] That's amazing! We- we're really going to do this.

[Sure, it hasn't happened yet. And it may not be definite. But the idea of a happy ending waiting at home, it makes him feel like all of this will be worth it.]

[He slaps Kurt on the shoulder.]

Ya make it sound like you were skeptical. That ain't any kind of talk for an X-Man.

You're right. [He says with a sly grin as the slap radiates manly pride throughout him.] You know, when I let myself talk like that, maybe I do deserve extra Danger Room time after all.

Oh, you can count on it, Elf. Ya got a ton of downtime to make up for.
