More memories he wouldn't get back. Whether they're bad or not, they ain't something I'm keen on just losin' again.

"Maybe so. But I recall some bits after Storm took me down."

She knows. She knows what losing his memory means to him. But Rogue also knew what it was like to have the memory of being yourself-and-not-yourself, cravings that you couldn't shake, another person who had been you stuffed inside your head. Both ways were bad. But she was kind of glad he couldn't recall the need to chew human flesh.

She shifted a little uncomfortably, took another sip of whiskey, "Yeah?"

[snikting]

"Yeah."

With his elbows rested on his knees, he dangled the bottle beneath him and span it around. There was one image frozen in his mind. Dream or not, he owed it to himself to know whether it was real or not. Even though he was pretty sure he knew the answer already.

"One of the times I woke up. I wasn't thinkin' straight. An' I attacked the first person I saw." He turned his head to catch her reaction. You.

If Rogue hadn't just been reminded how important his memories were to Logan, she might have been tempted to try to brush this aside - it wasn't her usual method of dealing with such things, but she didn't want Logan to have to deal with this on top of so many other things. But she knew how important it was to separate truth from delusion. And it wasn't as if she could hide her flinch.

Rogue darted a glance to him and managed a quick, tentative smile, "You've got one mean right hook."

[snikting]

"It could've killed ya."

But it didn't. She wouldn't be here if it had. It wasn't hard to guess how exactly she avoided certain death. She did it the same way he did. For that, he could be relieved.

[touchofrogue]

Rogue valiantly resisted the urge to touch the wound that still gave her phantom pain, "So could a lotta things."

[snikting]

"Usually they ain't me."

[touchofrogue]

"Thankfully," she swallowed and glanced at him again. "But that - that wasn't you either. Not really."

[snikting]

"I was still in there. That counts enough for me."

[touchofrogue]

She tilted her head and looked at him. "It wasn't your fault."

[snikting]

"Yeah, that's what 'Ro said too."

[touchofrogue]

Rogue went very still, instantly uncomfortable and wary, "You talked about this already, huh."

[snikting]

"She had to put me down with lightning bolts."

They'd talked. But not about the same thing.

"Kind of flattering, to think about it."

[touchofrogue]

Rogue eyed him warily for a moment, her back tense. "You know it takes a hell of a lot to put you down."
