[It's been over a month now since he first arrived. Luceti isn't any homelier now than it was then. Only now he's getting restless from being stuck here so long. Pretending to ride a bike cross country in the Dome ain't exactly satisfying when it keeps stopping in one hour intervals. So maybe it's time to look beyond the enclosure. Here he goes with the journal.]

I keep hearing about these missions people are going on. I've read the advertising too. Besides being a cure for boredom, do people have a good reason for doing their dirty work? Because frankly, I'm getting a little bored myself. But playing toadie to cash in for prizes ain't exactly the way I do things.

[Good enough. He'll stick around to answer that for awhile, then head to the Rec Center. He doesn't like it when its crowded with teenagers, but when he's lucky, he can play a game of pool by himself. After some time there, he'll be running a Danger Room scenario for himself in the Battle Dome. Lots of explosions and slashing. It's really cool, okay. After some time back home checking out some of Kurt's old movies and TV shows (at least the kid had some taste), he'll make his evening at Good Spirits. He'll take them by the bottle, bartenders. He don't even need you to remove the lids for him. That's what adamantium claws are for. Just another day in the life of the Wolverine.]

Not a one, actually. [Zack shows no shame or fear, though there is a healthy amount of caution. You don't take weapons like that lightly.] I've just never seen anything like that before.

[He slides the claws back into his hand.]

Well, it's pretty cool. [He shrugs, leaning back.] Did you get those installed or something? Because if you did- ouch.

Installed is one way to put it. [Only it wasn't exactly voluntary. And ouch is a major understatement.]

[Sensing a subject that shouldn't get pried at. Okay, he can dig it.]

Wouldn't it just be easier to get a bartender to take the top off? It's kind of what we're here for.

Here I thought it was just for the conversation.

Well, that too. We also come equipped with a pair of good ears for all your drunken rambling needs!

[And he sounds damn proud of it, too.]

Sure. I'll keep that in mind if I ever happen to feel chatty.

[Cuz you know that's something that happens all the time.]

Well, since you've all but ordered me to strike up a conversation, as it is my bartender duty, I've got no choice but to do it. What's your name, friend?

Just a month. Been in here plenty since.

[He's been 'lucky' to keep running into Buffy.]

[And your luck has just run out, ohoho.]

Ah, still a newcomer. That explains it. So are you in the "I hate it here, get me home" club, or do you not mind it?

I didn't realize there was another category. [Yeah. He's in the first.]

Well, some people didn't have such a great situation back home, so it makes sense, not wanting to go back. It just comes down to weighing out the pros and cons, I guess.

Some choice that is.

[Then again, his world is one day from being post-apocalyptic (or rather, post-Apocalypse himself). There's a strong chance that this place could be a hell of a lot better than the world waiting.]

Haha, yeah- what's that saying? "Caught between a rock and a hard place"? Kind of like that, I think. Except that the rock sometimes rolls over and turns into a pillow. And then the pillow gets all passive-aggressive and tries to smother you. And- ...I'm really not sure where I'm going with this, but the point is that it kind of sucks once in a while.

Not much of a metaphor there. But I'd picked up on the 'sucks' part of the place already.

Honestly? I don't mind it all that much here. It's not as bad as it could be.

Yeah? That mean home not too good for you?

Not so much. Not until it's possible to get sent home with the memories we gain here, anyway.

[That gets a stare. The sort that seems to be expecting the rest of the story.]

Well, if you found out you had a less-than-stellar future to look forward to, you'd want to change it if possible, right? At least, most people would. That's basically it in a nutshell.

I take it that means you've met people from your future.
