Her grin turned a little uneasy, because she knew how her dad felt about the upper class, and, well...William Stark was about as upper class as they got.

[Rude, man. The only reason she keeps beer in the fridge is because of you. :| Not like Makie's allowed to drink it anymore.]

This is the third month, isn't it? The strike. No give at all?

[snikting]

[After a long refreshing draft, he sets down the bottle, now with a third less of its contents.]

Not even'n offer to negotiate.

[snikting]

"He nice?" Admittedly Logan knew little about his daughter's romantic interests. Until they showed up at the door, he was content to let them be. He raised tough daughters and his wife had made them smart. At least, he hoped so.

[precipitous]

"Very nice. He's a perfect gentleman, really." Too well-off for Korra by all counts, and yet? He seemed into her.

[snikting]

"... gentleman, huh? Anybody I'd know?"

[kickingcatcher]

I can always borrow one of their old dresses. I'm used to it, after all, and some of them aren't bad.

[precipitous]

"Nah. He's not from the neighborhood." Ha. Far from it. Dad wouldn't know William, even if he would have heard of him.

[snikting]

"... he from east side?"

[snikting]

If you say so. I ain't gonna force yer hand. Hell, at my old school dances, most times I just wore the same thing I wore to sunday school.

[precipitous]

"I dunno exactly where he lives." Which was true. She knew the Starks had a huge mansion on Lake Catheria, but she wouldn't be caught dead around there.

[snikting]

"I s'pose I'll just have to meet 'em some other time." He figured if it was a real relationship, she'd bring him around these parts eventually.

Makie - 4th

[therewerefifty]

[That's so freaking cold. Makie pushes the other can in his direction. He can drink it or take it home with him, either way.] Is there a spokesperson there you're talking to?

[precipitous]

"Oh - yeah, sure! Sure thing." Except she couldn't see Will coming over for dinner anytime soon. Oh well - she'd worry about it later.

[snikting]

"Well you lemme know if he turns out to be no good. I'll set 'em straight for you."

Makie - 4th

[snikting]

[Logan eyes the other can and decides that it must be for him. And he'll certainly save it. Heaven knows he'll have need of it before long.]

Not since it all started.

[precipitous]

"You got it, pops."

[snikting]

"Good. Now why don't ya go head in and see when yer ma will have supper ready."

[kickingcatcher]

I appreciate the sentiment, papa. But I'll be fine. There'll be another one next year. [And she'll probably offer up her money to the family then, too.]

[precipitous]

"On it," she answered, righting herself and heading back towards the house.

[Then...the textile factory is just waiting them out. And if they fold, then that's it for any kind of change.]

It's a damn shame that place is the only work available in town for so many. I wish I could help.

[If it wasn't for being so sick, she could think of a few not-very-sensible methods. None of which would work, mind, but they're nice to think about.]

[snikting]

Fine. But keep yer money to yourself. You earned it, so its yers to do what you want with it.

It ain't for you to fight, Makie. You got the learnin' to get out of that Lowtown pit, even if it didn't last forever.

What else am I meant to do with my time? [Her voice is flat.] What there is of it. You're family, Logan. Family always comes first.

Ohhhh. [She can't help but pout, despite his kindness.] Stop making so much sense.
